i just ordered a pair of def tech studio monitor 55. the dimensions are heighth-13" width almost 8" depth 12. weight 13 lbs.

i was wondering what speaker stands people used for speakers close to that size and how you liked them.

i think i would need a stand around 28 to 30 inches high for the tweeter to be where i need it to be

that sanus 30 is one i have been looking at alot for the price. but it looks like the plate for the speaker is only 6x6 figured that is way to small isnt it? or do i use some kinda wax, putty, velcro and it will be ok?

When I was using them, I used speakers that were probably close to the same dimensions and weight as yours. I just had them set to where the weight was balanced (front baffle extending an inch or two past the front of the plate the speaker sits on). I also used blu tack to secure the speakers to the stand. Other things like quakehold/museum putty will work as well.

I use these with my LS50's, filled with buckshot.
DR Pro Maple Wood Studio Monitor Stand (Pair) MAPLE | Musician's Friend

They used to be made by American Recorder Technologies but now go by the name of DR Pro. Nice thick sticky felt foam pad on top (protects the bottom of the speaker & cuts down on resonance) with a secure base, made of handsome wood veneer on 1/4" thick metal frame. I also have a pair in my LR, for the surrounds, and I plan on purchasing another 2 pairs for my Epos Epic 2's and the bedroom. High WFA and I think they look smart. Whenever I go into high end shops with speaker stands of $250 and up, I'm quite baffled. The salesman sprouts on about "personally engineered" and all that and I have to snicker to myself wondering if he really believes it.

it's one thing to want your stands to aesthetically mesh with your speakers but quite another in my eyes to claim that they actually make your speakers sound better because you paid $800. I'm thinking ... Really? Sunshine! :D
