Hi, I had placed a post in the audiophytes section but havent recieved a response yet... so im hoping for more luck in this area...

I've looked over the Logitech site (and its forums) and still dont really know what type of speaker stand I can use with the surround satellites for my z680s. I found some suggestions for the newer z5500 model, but I'm not sure if those speakers have the same mounting options as the z680s.

On that note, I'm wondering if you guys know of an online guide for speaker stands in general. Is there a guide out there that explains the different types of mounts that different speakers/stands employ? Thanks in advance for any info you guys mite have =)

Can you post a picture of the back of your speaker? Alot of satelite speakers have the threaded inserts on the rear and pretty much any satelite stand can mount that type.

Thanks for the quick response! I was going to wait until i got home to take pictures but i figured i can find one on the net... who knew it would take this long! lol... here it is finally:

the back of the speaker has this metal plate that is connected to legs which holds the speaker up. There's a screw holding it in place and you use a hexegonal metal "L" to remove it (i think its called an Allen screw?), and then you can flip the stand, screw it back on, and mount it onto the wall. The legs have two holes in them for hanging on the wall (one on each leg).

Sorry if this is a bit vague, i'm not really sure what the correct vocab is. If you have any other questions let me know... thanks again!

You should be able to find some sattelite speaker stands just about anywhere for those guys, such as Best Buy, Circuit City, etc... Online, you could look at Parts Express or www.racksandstands.com . The stands will either have holes in them or a stud to mount them, or they will have a small flat top and a sticky pad/double back tape. Since you have threaded holes for screws, I'd look for some that accept that.

I hate to say it (b/c I hate the place with a passion), but for the budget way to do it go to your logal Walmart and they should carry some metal adjustable sattelite speaker stands that use the screw mounts, they are like $20 bucks and are built pretty solidly. I've seen them at my Walmart at college and the one here, so I figure they are at all of them.

cool, thanks guys =) So just to clarify, the logitech speakers use general screw mounts? would i screw it on where the hexegonal screw is (one screw), or would i mount it with the holes in the legs (two holes)? Thanks again guys, I appreciate the advice =) I checked out the website and http://www.racksandstands.com/prods/Atlantic/77305018/0PAL0135.htm thse look pretty cool... but cost effective sounds pretty good too. I'll check out Walmart sometime this week :)

If you find one that has a screw mount already, then you would remove the existing bracket.

I like Walmart for certain things, like I can print out the best price and get DVDs price matched there, so I don't have to drive all over the place or wait for the mail, because it is one block away from my work... I hate going there is the only thing. The one right here isn't so bad, but all the others around here are so dirty, yech.

Anyway, this is what I found on their site, looks like they will do the trick and they look like the other ones you listed:

For the price, it would be worth checking your local wallyworld for them. :)

update

Just to followup, I bought the stands from Walmart yesterday... took it home... and the speakers do not fit! -_-; Grr.... I can screw the speaker onto the mount, but it sits at a weird angle. The screw is connected to an angled plate on the back... so I cant really just let it sit on the stand (its too round) and i cant screw it onto the back (because the screw is at an angle on the speaker). *sigh* back to wally world to return the stand. BTW, walmart customer service is really crappy.

thenx for trying though guys... any other ideas?

yeah you can wall mount them if you invert the plate with the legs attached, the use the two holes in the legs to mount to the wall... thats how i used to have them when my desk was in a bay-window type area. i recently moved, so now they have to be on speaker stands....

*edit* just to clarify, the legs are parallel to the desk regularly. when you flip the plate/legs, the legs are parallel to the wall. However, the plate that attaches to the speaker itself is attached at an angle.
