Speaker stand for iPad

I wasnt totally sure if this belongs here or in the gadgets section.. but since the primary concern is sound playback and speakers I chose here.

I was looking at getting something to put in my kitchen, the iHome stuff gets mixed reviews on amazon but its specs look pretty good, a lot of people talk about the Phillips Fidelio.. but some people are saying it wont charge the iPad 2. Altec Lansing also makes a really cool looking dock, but reviewers claim the audio quality is sub par for Altec and its price point…

A little background info.. This will be replacing my Boston Solo am/fm radio. I would consider it a "higher end" tabletop radio. Its certainly not a $20 walmart clock radio… It has a very warm sound.. I really like it a lot. I hope to find something just as satisfying for the iPad…

Thanks guys…

After do some researching it appears that there arnt many choices for iPad speaker stands..

Anyhow just to keep all the info in one thread, here are the 4 I am considering…

(in no order)
iHome iA100
Altec Lansing Octiv Stage MP450
Philips Fidelio DS8550
JBL OnBeat

My Thoughts…

I like the look of the Philips and people say it sounds great. the previous iPod only versions get pretty good reviews. Some people are saying there is charging issues with the iPad 2.

The iHome also gets great reviews on sound quality. A LOT of people complain about the alarm clock functionality not working correctly, to me that not that big of an issue, the docks main/only use is for music/radio/podcasts in the kitchen.

The Altec like I stated before people are disappointed about sound quality but still say its pretty good.

Lastly, the JBL, It is kind of weird looking…

Ill have to try to get somewhere to hear these in person I think.. IMO whatever I choose has some large shoes to fill to replace the Boston Solo…
