Speaker Selector or Switch

Good day everyone! This is a bit of an odd request. I've got atmos/ceiling speakers installed, and am curious to try Auro layout. So I'll be hanging some height speakers, but no point in taking out the ceiling speakers since they're already up there. I was thinking it'd be interesting to be able to switch between using the height speakers and the ceiling speakers.

Would running speaker wire to some type of switch/selector work? And does anyone have a recommendation for a good quality one? I'm out of my realm in all things audio. Preferably it would be just one device that is able to do all 4 channels. (or even better, 6 channels for future proofing/"I need a project, let's add speakers" proofing)

I am not sure what you are looking for exists. You would need at least 2 inputs for 4 and 3 inputs for 6 pairs and most speaker selectors only have one to be distributed across all connected speakers.

I don't understand the difference between Auro and Atmos you are referring to, technically the in ceiling setup should be able to support both.

thanks for the reply.. that's a good point about amount of inputs, if I was using pre-outs that helps out. I hadn't thought of that.

Technically I can tell the receiver to do anything regardless of where the speakers are, yes. It sounds like on wall is preferred to in ceiling, when doing auro/atmos "hybrid." Pretty much, I've seen a lot of chatter about auro and am curious to try it. So I'm going to put some height/on wall speakers in eventually. And if I end up preferring them to the in-ceiling, it'd just be nice to be able to now and then switch to the (obsolete) ceiling speakers easily to A/B compare, or just for funsies.

(I think I enjoy tinkering and changing things more than using the system, is the problem!)

I think we have all been there on making changes just to see how it sounds. I just added front heights not too long ago and have been enjoying it. I would need to make room for more amplification to add any more speakers right now.
