Hello!

New member here... So I am at a decision point here.. little info.... I have just purchased a brand new Marantz SR8500 Receiver and I am looking to purchase a new speaker set up to go with it..... I am sort of leaning toward the Klipsch RF-7 floors and matching Reference series speakers and the Paradigm Monitor 11 floors and matching speakers. I would look forward to any of your imputs on this comparison and I will look forward to hearing what you have to say........

Thank you.

I'll use them mostly for music and some movies. I want to keep it to about a k a speaker or less.

I don't think, [if I remember right] that Marantz and Klipsch make a very good pairing. You might want to research this a little more.

Careful with the Monitor 11's. they can be a very tricky load for some amplifiers. Impedance is around 4 ohms.

Are you kidding? You can use a transistor radio from K-mart with the RF-7's and they would sound great. The 8400 will sound great with those.

I don't know about that... You might want to get the Wal-Mart one, just to be safe.

You're right, that extra 0.0001 watt is the deciding factor. Maybe mrty will give up his coveted 1982 panasonic boom box.

The Paradigm Monitor 11's are definetly 8 Ohm's and an easy load, I beleive 93dB efficiency. I can't compare them with the Klipsch because i haven't heard them however the 11's sounded awesome with my Denon AVR-3805 and now my Outlaw 755 Amp.

IMHO

Have you measured the DC resistance? I have a good customer with a pair, and they were measuring 3.9 ohms. That is low enough to cause problems with some amplifiers or receivers. Seeing as you are running a solid outboard amplifier, you should have had no problems. :)

if you can listen to them. and then decide. look at quad 22L great prices and real

wood. they also have WAF too. energy veritas. vienna acoustics and totem will fall in that range. look at audiogon.com for some demos or used ones. you can save quite a bit that way.

I would say something like:

2x Quad 12L
2x Quad 11L
Quad Lcenter

A Rel or MJ Aoucstics Sub, or the Quad L Sub would be a GREAT sounding system!
