I have a Panasonic HTIB. I just received my Yamaha Rx-V1700 Receiver but i'm still awaiting my Speakers. In the meantime is it ok to hook up the HTIB speakers to my receiver to play around with a bit or will not work?

Also the sub on the HTIB is not powered. Is there any way of hooking that to the Yamaha receiver as well?

Just don't turn the volume up high as you will probably overload the HTIB speakers.

As for the sub, no. You wouldn't gain anything by it anyway. Wait for your "real" speakers and sub.

be mindfull of the inpeadince of the HTB speakers, i.e. if thay are under 4 ohms - don't use them.

My rear surrounds are 4ohms. Why would this matter. On my receiver there is a 4, 6, and 8ohm setting.

Or will i seriously mess up the receiver or speakers. I would not blast them of course.

As for the sub can't i keep the Sub hooked up to my HTIB receiver play a DVD from the HTIB receiver and hook up the rest by 5.1 analog out to the Yamaha receiver so that the fronts, center, and rears go thru the Yamaha but the sub stays powered by the HTIB.

Your unpowered HTIB sub will not work with your new receiver. It requires a powered sub.

since your reciever can handle a 4 ohm load, the 4 ohm HTB speakers should be OK.
I was consernd that thay might have been 2 or 3 ohms, which would have been bad for the reciever.

Your HTIB receiver has 5.1 analog outs?!

Anyway, I'd suggest you leave your receiver alone. Use your HTIB equipment until you get new speakers and a sub.
