Speaker Question - Energy C500 Towers

Hi All,

As you can see in my signature, I have a pair of C-200 bookshelf speakers that I had intended to use as my fronts when my HT space is complete. The regular price on these was $400CDN but I picked them up on sale for $249CDN.

I have just received info via e-mail that the Energy C-500 towers are going on sale on Saturday, 19 hour sale, for $499CDN, down from $899CDN.

Would this be a worthwhile purchase for my system to use as fronts instead of the bookshelf models?

The total dimensions of the room they will be in is about 12'W X 35'L X 8'H with the HT space taking approx. 12W X 15L X 8H of those first measurements. The back wall of the HT space is semi open to the rest of the basement. There is an entrance doorway, no door, and a half wall to define the seperate space for the HT.

The bookshelf speakers have never been taken out of the box, although the box has been opened, so I could sell them for a decent buck, since I save $150CDN off the regular price when I bought them.

Thanks for any input

For $100 more than the original bookshelf price it sounds like a good deal. The 500s should provide more midrange punch.

I agree. That room is big, even though your listening area isn't. You would benifit from the tower.

Thanks

Sheep and AVRat,

I was hoping you would say that. Now I get to buy some more speakers :D

Bought so much stuff in July, August, and early Sept that I was getting the shakes from not buying anything in the last two weeks.

I don't think I will be able to beat that deal on those speakers for some time to come so I believe I will go for it, and I should be able to easily sell the bookshelfs and recover all of my money, if not gain a little.

Thanks for the comments and the advice
Cheers
Michael
