Speaker Port Tuning

I have built several multi chambered/multi ported enclosures several times in the past.
I was always satisfied with their performance but recently have become obsessed with playing vinyl - again.
I have noticed, of course that longer/shorter ports/number of ports/position of ports - all affect the LF.
I thought it about time I got some new ideas as to how to do it properly.

Can anyone point me to information on how to tune speaker cabinets via the ports?
If anybody can, it will be most helpful and I will give details of what I have done over the years.

Port tuning, enclosure size, and a driver's Theile/Small parameters are all directly linked. Are the speakers you are considering playing with DIY units? If not I would suggest leaving the ports alone. It would be pretty difficult in most cases to get the T/S parameters for a driver from the manufacturer. Most manufacturer ports and enclosures are set up for a smooth response curve. Shortening or lengthening these ports could have adverse effects on the overall sound of the system.
