speaker placement issues

I have been looking to buy speakers for quite a while now and have found some that I really enjoy, but I have a problem. I have a crt tv and the speakers, B&W 683's, are not magnetically shielded. Also the space that I have to work with will only allow for 15" from the tv. Another pair of speakers that I currently am auditioning in home are the Paradigm Monitor 11's and they are causing some problems with my tv which made me notice my problem. I just found out that I can order the Paradigms to be shielded, but the B&W's can't be. I am pleased with the Paradigms, but I think I would be much happier with the B&W's so is there anything I can do to solve this problem without getting another tv?

Nothing short of adding some external shielding comes to mind. Speakers use magnets and magnets can bend the electron beam in your picture tube. You need something else to take that magnetism. It might be a good time to go get that wonderful large flat screen HDTV you've been lusting over.

If you are a DIY kinda guy you can put some bucker magnets on the B&Ws. Parts Express carries them.

I believe they have used bucking ( I believe this might be spelled incorrectly) magnets to help with shielding. I think that's the term they used for placing a magnet on the back of the speaker driver.

Yeah, bucking, not bucker. I messed that up sorry.

Thanks for the help so far. I don't think I would feel comfortable using those magnets. I put objects in between the speaker and tv to see if it would solve the problem but it did not. I think the only possible way the 683's would work is if their magnets aren't as powerful giving me more room to work with. I could buy a new tv, but I recently bought the one I currently have, a Sony xbr800, two years ago. I would have to spend roughly $3000 to get similar picture quality in a plasma or lcd.
