I am currently setting up a system. I have klipsch RP8000f L&R RP504 Center and 502S for surrounds 5.1 first then I will add 4 atmos next week I have 4 CDT 5800. The PB3000 I got is located next to left front speaker. My room is 20 feet long with TV in middle my diagram is not proportionate. The room is 10 feet wide with Couch 18 inches out from wall I can move it a little more but not much. Left end is brick wall with fireplace, behind the couch is double window and far side of room has 2 feet of solid wall then open half wall then doorway. So the system will be centered sorry my diagram is off.

Where would the 502 go best right at 90 degrees, in the back corner, or somewhere in between? Are bipoles the best option for the room?
Is there enough room to put in 4 atmos speakers? If I do 7.1 eventually will it even be worth it?

Well, as much as I dislike bipolar surround speakers, I think that due to the narrow room, that might’ve the best choice. For 7.1.x unless you have 5-6’ behind the LP I wouldn’t worry about that.
As for .4 Atmos, I am an advocate of that, but you’ll definitely want to scoot the couch up for that to be at its best. What’s the ceiling height?

I have not received the 502S they are coming today. Sorry, I am moving it to another room tired of wife complaining already.

New room is 10 X 10 open on left side to larger 30 x 15 room ( pool table right in middle of large room) ceilings are only 7.5 with drop ceiling. Easy to put in the atmos but will be basically right on top of front speakers, it is a small room I will put the couch 3 feet from back wall or around there, If I have my sides fairly close (around 5 feet from LP) is it better to do the Klipsch RP502 or RP600M on a rack next to the couch and on a rack mounted on the wall at 90°. I will try to squeeze in a rear for 7.1.4 but I am not sure I can fit it.

So question is surrounds at end of the couch 90° which one RP 502 or RP600M is direct firing to much that close?
Is 7.1 possible will I get anything from it. If so would the 502 or 600M be better for back?

With the couch only being 18" from the back wall...I would scrap the 7.1 idea altogether. I'm not a huge fan of bipolar surrounds either, but that might be the best. Ideally your side surrounds should be slightly behind and to the side of the listener maybe a foot or so above the listener's head.

Mine are slightly to the side and behind, but basically ear level and they sound pretty good.

Your ceiling height for Atmos is fine....it looks like your space is best suited for 5.1.4 assuming you have ceiling access.

I can move the couch to what ever position works best, only have 10 feet to work with I don't think anymore than 3 feet would be good, want to stay 6 feet from front stage. I would put up stands if needed.

If you're referring to 7.1...with only 10' of room depth to work with, I wouldn't advise trying to squeeze in side surrounds AND rear surrounds.

You will need every bit of that 3' behind the sofa if you put your side surrounds on stands which imo would be ideal.

Awesome thank you very much I will keep the 502s and see If I can make them work for 5.1.4 I have an adjustable shelf on one wall so I will put one a little over 5 ft and one on a box until I get a stand this way I can move them around until I find a sweet spot. I will try some different angles slightly behind and to the side of LP.

It sounds like you already have the 502s, yeah I'd keep them as well. I failed to ask if this system is primarily for music or movies.

Movies...you can get away spending far less on surround speakers...tonal matching with your front 3 is not critical.

Music...surround sound music I'm starting to feel that tonal matching surrounds are the best way to go as some content sends full signal to the surround speakers.

Mostly movies I would say 80% of the time, the 502s should be there when I get home yes.

Okay...I'm pretty much the opposite. That being the case, as I mentioned you could spend far less on surrounds for movies especially, but since they are enroute, I would probably keep them.

How do/did you like the 502s? I have a similar situation in our basement. Not a closed off dedicated room, but currently running a 3.1 system with Klipsch RP-6000 at left & right, and the RP-250C at center. I'm looking to add the RP-402's on my rear wall, but they'll have to be offset from the seating positions, due to a doorway. The front row is about 10-15 feet away from the rear wall. I was able to run the cables across the ceiling to the rear wall, since that will be the simplest location to install without having to run exposed cables across the floor. I auditioned the 502's a few weeks back and like what I heard. But some audiophiles I know are trying to talk me out of bipole speakers for surround.
