Hey man if I were you I would take a look at the Athena S.5 speaker package that includes the center and (4) surrounds. This set is only $199 at Onecall.com plus around $32 for shipping and handling. Then I would order (2) Acoustic Research ARPR808 8" powered subs from J&R.com for $199 which includes shipping and handling. This combination is awesome!!!! I know just got it myself. I am using a Yamaha RX-V757 as my receiver and I know the Pioneer1015TX is a little better than my Yammie. It would sound real good and for only around $430---WOW!!!!! Just thought I would mention it to you. Good luck in your decision.

That sounds like a good combo....I already put the two subs past my wife...she didn't seem enthusiastic about it. Athena seems like a good speaker, I'll have to consider your idea. Thanks.

If my wife had her way, I would have no sub and be listening to the tv speakers...

Hey let me mention this to you. The Acoustic Research sub is very small. It is also very solidly built. Likewise, the Athena S.5's are not real big either and come with (4) wall mounting brackets if space becomes an issue. However, I do understand the notion of WAF because I USE to be married. Anyways, good luck in your decision. BTW, the AR subs dount sound like an 8" sub but more like a 10" sub. I used to own a Paradigm PS1000v.4 10" sub but the (2) AR 8" subs are better and didn't even cost half the price. The Paradigm Sub is a $550 sub. Good luck!!!!

I know it's a bit more than you're looking to spend but here are a couple of suggestions:Velodyne Deco $500
http://www.velodyne.com/velodyne/products/ob_product_detail.aspx?ID=DECO&sid=409n223q

The HSU Ventriloquist setup with the STF-1 Sub, also $500
http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/

Form what you picked I'd probably go with the Athenas, but the sets above are in a bit of a different league, and for $100 more you really are getting the bang for the buck. That Velodyne setup had an MSRP of $1500 when it was new.
