Hello Everyone,
I got in touch with an experienced vintage Sansui person.
He tells me that the output terminals on these things are one of their weak points.
Further, even if I could find an original set, there's such high demand for these things by people who want aesthetic accuracy in their receivers, that the prices are insane -- something like $70 on eBay for two sets.
Therefore, I'm retrofiting better terminals.
How much signal loss is involved when one adjusts a bare wire everywhere system to plugs/pins at the amp out and speaker in?
Is sexy gold platting a good thing on terminals and pins/plugs? Do we want another metal in there? How much do bare copper units corrode?
I'm running 12 gauge BJC (I know, if I'm upgrading the terminals why not go 10G? Truth is the terminal issue didn't come up until after the wire was cut and installed.)
Thanking you all in advance,
JDH
