Speaker matching with Main Speakers

Hi

I recently bought a pair of Dynaudio Audience 82 for my Denon 3805 receiver. I am considering adding either a centre or rear speakers in the coming months. At this stage I will probably go with a centre speaker next unless there is compelling reason (opinions appreciated) to get rear speakers next.

I will like some advice regarding what I should look for while auditioning centre speakers. The supplier that sold me the Dynaudio speaker said I should stick with the same brand of speaker for sound matching, is there any truth to it?

The following speakers are what I have in mind at the moment:
JMLab Cobalt CC 800S
Dynaudio Audience 42C
Dali Suite C 0.8

Thanks
Stephen

You should go for the centre channel first. Watching movies with 3 front speakers is a must. There is nothing much to listen to at the rear really. Centre speaker needs careful matching with your left and right front speakers. Matching means using the same tweeter across. By that, it is usually the best case to have the same brand. But you also should evaluate the sound dispersion and other characteristics of the centre speaker. How you might ask? The only way is to educate yourself. Go to http://www.soundvisiontech.com. Learn how to assess and evaluate great-sounding speakers. Good luck!

I agree with Jul go with a center 1st and get a matching one at that. Go for the Dyn center.

Agreed on going with the center channel first. Going with a Dynaudio center will probably be the best bet. However, listen to them together and decide.
