Speaker level matching

Okay I watched the video on using the Audessey editor app. What I have a question about is this , if you use the manual speaker level to set your levels you disengage the Audessey settings.
So if you use a pink noise , like on a Atmos demo disc you can run a test tone for your setup. You still have to open the manual speaker level to adjust the trim. As soon pick a speaker it uses the AVRs pink noise which disengages the Audessey. So how do you recommend doing this? Am I just missing something here.

That link takes me to a reaction do I want to make or not....

I could have missed it but what difference is Audyssey running or not going to make to setting levels with pink noise?

Iirc the idea is that the pink noise from the built in test tones do not use Audyssey filters.
So the point is that by running the test tone with Audyssey filters in place, the DB will be correct since Audyssey will likely have pulled down peaks, or boosted some nulls. This correction won’t be present with a “raw” test tone.
It seems very extra to me. But then again I do re-level match my subs after filtering with my minidsp. Can’t say it’s ever been that far off…

Can't see what the little eq that might be involved is going to do to overall speaker levels myself. Has there been any measurements showing the differences in doing it this way?

I haven’t seen any myself and can’t remember if anyone posted any results, or even if there was any resolve at all. I can’t imagine it making much difference either, but I have definitely split hairs on less important shitt. Lol

Once Gene posted a thread with regard to adjusting speaker levels with the use of a SPL meter. I have been searching for it but couldn't find it.
