Speaker hookup to Pioneer Receiver

Trying to hook up my Pioneer VSX-94TXH receiver to speakers in another room.
All the speaker terminals are connected to the surround system in the main listening room, except the "surround back L & R". Tried connecting to these, but no sound. Wiring checked OK with another receiver. Hope somebody can

you need to go into the setup menu and assign them to multiroom, also you will need analog cables from all sources as z2 will not play digital audio

Did you assign the surround back speaker terminals to "ZONE 2" in the receiver's menu? This is described on page 39 of the owner's manual.
