I went and listened to some Polk RTI A5 tower speakers along with the Polk A1 speakers for rear speakers. Also listened to some A7's and thought the A5's sounded better. The A7's were too bright.

The A5's were around $450ea and the A1's $300 for the pair.

Is this a good deal are is their something better in the same price range or maybe a small step up in price? I could probably go to a $1000ea, but is it really worth it. I bought a great sub Surfire 12". Now I need to compliment it with some front and rear speakers. The sub is by far the most important to me personally.

So would you say the A5 is not bright at all or just less bright than the A7?

It seems nearly everybody says Polk speakers are bright but I heard them briefly at Fry's and they didn't sound bright to me. Of course the room had wall to wall thick carpet and lots of furniture and shelving that would probably absorb some of the high frequencies.

I love the looks of them and the specs are good but I'm always afraid of 'bright' speakers - especially since my house is all porcelain tile.

I didn't think the A5 was too bright, but thought it was a little bright. Mainly it was bright when I was listening to music. Sounded real good when listening to a movie.

Its a matter of preference though.

I thought it sounded pretty good.

I just would like some suggestions on other things to consider.

I will consider the A5's though.

Look at the G series speakers from PSB.
