Speaker Dust Cap Material

I am replacing the foam surrounds on a pair of Paradigm 3SE mini's (I use them for rears). I don't like cutting corners so I decided to cut the dust caps off so I could center the voice coil. Now I have 3 questions:

1. The dust caps were made of a screen mesh and I am wondering if I need to replace them with the same material?

2. My first foam is off center by maybe 1/32 to 1/16th inch. Will this cause the coil to rub during movement or change the sound much?

3. Any recommendations for gasket material (for under the housing ring and under the cross-over mount)?

Cheers

although im not too sure about the other questions, i do not believe the dust cap material matters greatly. Especially if they are rears. Using the same material would be ideal, but its not necessary. I think parts express has some refoaming kits and dust caps if you need. Good luck!
