Hello everyone, I just baught a 5.1 system and am looking for advice on layout and irrationality. The Rear left and Rear Right should be pointing Centered on the couch or crossing in the middle of the room? As well, the Front left and Front Right, should they be mounted centered with the TV aiming centered of the couch? The image shows the room layout and speaker locations. Rear speakers will be mounted on the top corners.Untitled.jpg

Well, if your mounting location isn't a firm decision, I'd move the couch out couple of feet and mount them only a foot or so above ear level. But if you've already got your placements decided, I say just try your speakers both ways and go with what sounds best to you.

More information.

I'm not Firm on placement but I cant move the couch out, too small of a room and I've got kids. I was idealey mounting them corner of the ceiling / wall to avoid any extra exposed wires.

You don't have to follow the guidelines to the letter, they are just a suggestion, but your current choices aren't going to work. Corner/ceiling is a bad spot Speakers should be roughly ear level when seated, but you can mount them higher than that. Use wire tracks or flat wire to hide the wiring or stand or wall mount them and run the wires from wall plates from below. If you are going to go up top, just go with in ceiling surrounds.

Looks like you have it about right. Would move the front left and right out from the TV a bit.
