Speaker Crossover Adjustment FYI

I am new to this forum and in need of a bit of guidance on how to lower the crossover point on my soon to be derived Pioneer HTP074 5.1 Home theater in a box unit. This system will accompany my new Samsung 65" q8fn tv. I was reading a clip where the homeowner had a company come in and set up above system where by lowering the crossover point on the amp it was found the satellite speakers produced some bass & this augmented the woofer speaker and the system as a whole. Ideas & or comments welcome.

Thanks in advance

Its a complete package system so crossovers are set up the way its supposed to be im fairly sure.
Setting crossovers (or most likly using the auto setup) is for stand alone reciever or separates and speaker systems.

This is what I am talking about.
Update:
I had a A/V pro friend stop over to work his magic on setup for our home theater. For this unit the biggest improvement was found when we set the speaker to viewer distance, that did a great job of balancing the various speakers. The rears in my setup had to be offset to slighter higher output as the white noise test indicated that were still lacking slight. Also - the crossover was set really high standard meaning that little to no bass is sent to the speakers with most being channeled to the sub. By lowering the X-over more bass was sent out to the satellite speakers making the sounds fuller as a whole. Overall - this unit went from four to five stars based on a bit of tweaking within the menu settings. I highly recommend that purchases take 30 min to work through the settings to get the most out of the OE equipment. 10 to 12 hours in post tuning and still love this setup.

Ah so it wasnt a question.
As long as you are careful with the volume knob it should be fine and good you are very happy with the sound.

Leemix:
The text above was from a review of the Pioneer HYP-074 system review from a client on Amazon. This is what I am trying to replicate for my new system that is arriving sometime today.
I appreciate you getting back to me on this with your imput.
Thanks

Now i finally understand.
Setting distances is very important and should be done, its probably covered in a startup guide.
Changing crossovers while it might be easy to do involves a lot of give and take. By asking the speakers to go deeper it strains them a lot more and also the amp itself but this is volume dependant also so if you play at moderate to low volumes you have a lot more room to play with. The woofer is very small in those speakers so a high crossover is needed but you probably have a little room for tweaking. It depends a lot on your room, distance to the speakers/subwoofer and placement. What works in his room might not be the best in yours.
A good idea is to read the manual and see if they mention anything about it but it is probably a good idea to start with the default crossover and use that a while before changing, different is not always better and as i mentioned it is extremly room/placement dependant.

Thanks so much for your input on this. I will go with your recommendation. I will revisit crossover issue once I have had a chance to get more acquainted with the new system.
Thanks again

Agreed. Using some arbitrary settings based on someone else’s room could end up with even worse results. I would also spend some time really listening and paying attention. That way when you do make adjustments you’ll be very familiar with the system, and more easily notice the changes.

From what I see in the manual out of the box the system is set to 200Hz for a universal crossover point for speakers set to small (and I'd think with this set of speakers that come with this HTIB that you should set them to small). No details on the speakers' or sub's frequency range so hard to know if that's a good starting point or if you might prefer another crossover setting. You can always experiment with it. Download the manual and look at page 30 for your options.

As to the very little information in an Amazon review...meh. Who knows what the owner did to set it up out of the box. This unit does not seem to have an automatic setup routine as many avrs using a provided microphone, just manual setup with the exception of tones emitted for setting levels. Distance (delay) should be based not on viewing distance but listening distance, i.e. the distance from your listening position to each speaker; slight adjustments might be helpful due room acoustics. The levels can be set using an spl meter (even an app for your phone may work well enough for this purpose), which would probably be better than merely by ear.
