speaker coil wiring.

Hi guys.
Im sorry if this is a noobish question, but tbh, im a little unsure, so worth asking..

Basically, i lent out my home made PA speakers a couple of days ago, Which have a 15" eminence bass driver fitted in each..
Got the speakers back today, and my friend never told me he had blown on of them.
Now i know you can re-coil speakers, and i think thats what im going to do, defo going to be cheaper than replacing the entire driver, as each driver cost me £170 in total..
But since you cant physically see how everything is wired inside, im unsure..

So, you have the two terminals on the speaker basket, + and -...
and then a thick wire coming from each, down into the Spider of the speaker, but where do those wires connect to?
Do they go directly to each ends of the coil windings?/

Because i imagine, once the coil is wound around, you are left with two bare ends, the beginning of the coil winding, and then the bit at the end..
So i gather those two bare ends are joined to that thick wire coming from the terminals???

Cheers

You will not be able to rewind a voice coil. This requires expensive factory equipment to wind the coil.

What you need to do is recone the speaker. You need a new cone with attached wound voice coil. You need a new surround, a new dust cap and the factory shims to center the voice coil. You will need speaker glue.

All you can salvage from that speaker is the chassis and magnet, everything else has to be replaced to factory specs.

Just to add to what TLS Guy wrote... I wouldn't glue it myself either. Send the driver to Eminence and they will re-cone it for you to factory specification. Then send the bill to your friend. Too many people take advantage of others these days.

This is sound advice. How do you blow your friends PA speakers, and not say anything? That's ****ed up.
