I finally have some money to put in an audio system but i don't know what type of speakers to get.

Having that said.
I have Pioneer VSX-21TXH receiver
I have a $1000 budget and i want to get 2 front speakers. Primary purpose music. ( Jazz. Lounge etc) For now i am going to use them just for music in the future i will include them in a modest surround sound system.
I am looking at few speakers that i have heard great things about them and they are (according to my selection so far) :
Intimus 5T Tower Speaker ( aperion audio)
M60 v2 (axiom)

Which one do you advice i get?
I would appreciate your help!

Thanks:D,

Axiom M-60's

Hi: I have the Axiom M-60's with their center channel VP-150 and love their sound they do not sound bright at all simply reveal lousy recordings. I have not heard the other speakers so I'm not able to comment

P.S I use a pioneer elite 56txi to drive the Axioms

Thanks stereo guy. I would like to purchase the speakers in the next few days and i didn't know if i would get enough feedback until then but i guess you guys rock.

You just reinforced what i said in my inital posting that i have heard great things for both this speakers.
The ideal thing would have been auditioning both of them and possibly at the same time.
I might just do that but i'll have to find out what is the return policy for Axiom because i know Aperion offers a free 30 day at home trial.

The Ascend Sierra-1's aren't tower speakers, but still worth a look at <$1,000 per pair.

Thanks RNatalli,
The Ascend Sierra 1's had some superb reviews. For now i want towers but the sierra's are now in my favorite list.

Anyone else that has heard any of these speakers or suggestion for other speakers i am open minded.

For a music first situation, I don't get very excited at your present budget with towers. For me, for HT, a lot of speakers suit me more easily. IOW, I'd try to get the nicest bookshelves I could, and the Sierra1s would make the short list.

Really, the best advice anyone could give you is to go listen to as many as you can.

What would give you a lot of peace of mind, particularly with ID, is to order a few pairs of speakers, and send the losers back home. Ascend, Aperion, Salk, etc, all have money back guarantees. Then again, the Aperions could be afforded as towers I believe.

If you're set on towers, at this budget, the Monitor Audio RS6 is pretty popular, and should be a couple-few hundred below budget.

At double your budget for towers, I'd see if I could hear some Salk Song Towers. If used is ok, I might check out some PSB Platinum T6s (though they are pretty bland looking, quite unsexy visually).

At about triple your budget, I'd check out BW 804s or Dynaudio Contours on classifieds, if towers only.

There are too many brands to list. You gotta go listen to a few.

Thank you jostenmeat! ;)
I had never heard of Sierra 1's but i read some great reviews and i think they are a winning speaker.
My only concern is the fact that i am looking to upgrade the system to a surround sound 5.1 in the future and i don't know how the tonality will match with other brands(in case i decide to go that direction) and i don't know how good the sierras will be for the surround sound kind of set up.
Any thoughts on that?

Ah and one thing i forgot to mention. I heard B&W CM series and i absolutely loved the details the warmth of the sound. I heard them in an audio store side by side with Paradigm Monitor series ( which i had extremely high regards for) and i truly fell in love with the sound of CMs. I can not afford them because of that extra $500 but that would have been a clear choice.

You'll definitely want to "match" with the center. The ideal match, believe it or not, is well, the identical speaker, upright/same-plane/equidistant. They make a horizontal, with the tweeter rotated 90 deg. Also, think about it, all of the speakers you see use vertically arrayed drivers. This is because it's the best design for horiz dispersion. Horiz arrayed drivers, well particularly the horiz MTM, suffers in this regard. The reason you see it EVERYWHERE, is because people don't know better, and it came about as a purely aesthetical compromise. That's just some speaker edumaction for ya. (better horiz designs would include coincidental as made by KEF, or WTMW like the high end BWs, which of course are $$$$).

Less that, from the same brand at least.

It's the same thing for surrounds, however, here it's not nearly as imperative. It's still better, distinguishably, IMO when it's the same speaker, or at least from the same lineup. Again, less that, same brand. If you can. If you can't oh well. Won't bother you nearly as much with HT as with mch music. But, even just for HT, my opinion stands. JMO.

If you love the CM, save up for em. Bookmark Audiogon. Wait for them to pop up on classifieds, hopefully from a seller with good feedback. Even luckier would be if they were a neighbor, for local pickup. See when this lineup ever gets superceded, then hit up the dealers and offer to take the demos off their hands. Etcetera.

If you like Paradigms, the Studios are a step up from the Monitors. And the Signature is a step up from the Studios.

Ok, I see on Audiogon that the Signature S1 V2s have sold twice recently, once at $950, and another at $975. (and that's as listed, who knows what happened with negotiation). Here is the S2 V1 asking at $1,050. (I think they're on V3 already though? Sorry, I'm not too familiar with the Paradigm family).

Once again jostenmeat thank you ,:D
After all the budged i have will not get me the pair of towers that i am looking for (which is a great set of towers).
You said: " For a music first situation, I don't get very excited at your present budget with towers."
Since now i am at sqare one with making a decision and as confused as i ever was, do you guys think i should go for Bookshelves?
Are bookshelves that much better than the towers in the same price range??? Can you tell me how big is the difference between the sound from both towers and bookshelves.
Honestly my priority is music i love the lounge type of music like Thievery Corporation and similar music.
