I live in a Mission bungalow that we are restoring. It seems like many of the home theater speakers I can afford are all for people who have much more contemporary tastes. Does it affect the sound quality if I take a silver or black speaker and put a wood case around it?

thanks

Actually it could go both ways, you could help the sound or hurt it.

you could use a laminate veneer, and that wouldnt affect anything.

If you use, say an oak plywood, as long as you do a good job, and adhere it well, it could help the sound. It will help build some more rigidity into the cabinet.

If you dont do a good job, it could add an annoying rattle or something of the sort.
