Audiophyte
Hi all. I picked up a pair of Polkaudio RC80i in wall speakers still in the wrappers at a used store for 15 US dollars. I rent so I can't be cutting holes in the ceiling or walls. So I freed the speakers from the wall mounts that came as part of the speakers and swapped them out for the speakers that were in an old pair of fisher STV cases I had sitting around that I picked up for 5 bucks. Anyone who's had the misfortune of hearing those fisher speakers mentioned above would know I did those cases a big favor. The cases still have the original tweeters Which I would like to swap out for knew ones. So my questions are;
1 - would I benefit from adding a second mid range tweeter as the Polkaudios have them built into the speaker and if so what would pair well.
2 - What high range tweeters would pair well?
3 - is there any other hardware you all would recommend?
4 - The speaker cases have no batting would adding some improve the sound quality?
5 - Would they be better paired with a sub woofer are a pair of speakers with good base and if the latter what would you all recommend?
Please note my musical preferences would be classical vocal such as Celtic women, Josh Grobin etc so I'm more interested in clarity then I am in rocking out. Thank you all for your help.
My assessment of the speakers would be the clarity is good, the mids are decent, they lack in highs and need to be paired with a sub woofer are speakers with good base .
