Just wondering how many of you get to reference levels with your speakers. I seem to be getting peak levels of 99 db with my speakers, and 112-113 db with my subs. This is set with 75db with my yammy 2600. I have polk rti38 all around and a polk csi30 for center. I also have 2 klipsh rw12's. My living room is 14 x 30 x 8. pretty long. Just wondering what other poeple get, and if I will need a bigger amp or speakers to get to reference levels?

I haven't tested it properly, I grabbed my SPL while watching a movie once. With the sub at 25% volume(I didn't try without it), I was hitting 122db at the listening position. I have to keep it at 10% volume to keep the peace with the neighbors:mad:

cheers:)

Isn't reference levels as specified by the THX specs damaging to hearing? If so why would anyone want to listen to it that loud? I'd rather keep my hearing for as long as I can and play it at comfortably loud levels . Even comfortably loud maybe too loud.

I can easily hit and exceed reference levels, it's just too loud sit there and listen to most movies at that level though.
