I want to run a cable from my PC to my Marantz receiver. My sound card has the digital "out" to support this, as does the Marantz have the "in". Do I use standard RCA wall jacks and cables to do this? How far can I run? The PC is about 25' from the receiver. Will this work?

Standard RCA wall jacks will work with Spdif, and that length shouldn't cause any problems either.

As said, you have it figured out. S/PDIF (Sony/Philips Digital InterFace) is typically carried on coax. Sometimes the word 'digital' is thrown into the mix to make it sound cool and to charge you more cash.

But, yes, normal coaxial cabling with an RCA connection on the end is the ticket.

I've got 50 foot runs in my home with no issues.
