Has anyone tried putting those foam egg carton things that come with most computers (about 1 foot to each side) on thier wall to soundproof their room? I tried this as well as palets of eggs (24 eggs)...

I like the foam much better as it was able to dampen the noise quite effectively from bouncing around. You don't need to cover the entire wall either - you can get away with just putting up about 12 of them or go for the checkered look...

Ideas? Suggestions??

That type of foam doesn't work nearly as well as acoustic foam. But even better than foam is rigid fiberglass or products made from rigid fiberglass.

See my Acoustics FAQ:

It's admittedly a lot to read, but it's very thorough and answers questions you haven't even thought to ask yet. :D
