Sound & vision not sychronised

I've just purchased a Denon 1604 amp and Denon 2200 DVD. The problem is that the sound and vision are not synchronised. The sound is ahead of the picture by a fraction of a second. I've tried plenty of DVD's and it's the same with all of them. I didn't have the problem before with my Sony DVD and Yamaha amp.

The TV is a Panasonic Plasma. I've connected DVD to TV with Component leads. DVD to Amp with Optical lead.

Anyone any ideas?

It's not the dvd or the dvd player - it's the tv. Digital tvs do alot of processing to the signal, like scaling the input to its native resolution, applying any noise reduction algorithms, etc. That processing takes time and delays the video. That's why newer mid-high end receivers include an audio delay (aka lip-sync) feature.

You could try turning off any special settings like noise reduction or 'image enhancement' or whatever it is that your plasma provides.
