I just got an email from my distributor that SU (Marantz, Denon, etc.) will be increasing their prices.

“As we are all aware, the current challenges facing manufacturers extend far beyond simple product delivery delays. From parts shortages to commodity price inflation to logistical challenges, costs for finished goods continue to creep ever upward. Currently, there is a parking lot of container ships off the coast of CA and air freight is 16 times higher than it was pre-COVID.

Unfortunately, as a result, Sound United is being forced on Feb 1st, 2021 to raise both retail and cost pricing on Denon and Marantz AVRs.

Most models will see a modest increase of $50 to $100 at MSRP.

We will do our best to honor pricing for orders still in our system, but as of Feb 1, the new dealer costs will apply. “

I think we're going to see more news like this in the coming months in a variety of fields....

Fortunately, I don't need any gear anytime soon, and Covid will hopefully be in the rear view mirror by the time I need anything, So I will simply wait until this storm has passed and their costs go back down to normal  before I buy!

I received an email from Outlaw detailing the same for some of their gear.

It's unfortunate. Consider how, for the last year, we all talked about the issues these companies were facing across the board in staffing, production, shipping and distribution... This is the logical next step in this.

My hope is that for most of these companies it ends there at modest price increases... which *fingerscrossed will be undone next year. :)

The other options would involve shuttering operations.

So... If this helps get them through... *sighs
