I am looking to buy a sound system for playing the PS3 in my bedroom which is 3 x 3.5 metres. I currently have some Creative 7.1 speakers which I bought for around £100.00 4 years ago – they have been fairly good but now I just fancy something new and better. My question is that for just simply a bedroom is it worth paying a lot of money for a 5.1 surround sound system that will be used at fairly low volume for most of the time - is there a notable difference in terms of sound quality to what I already have? Would stereo be more appropriate? I am willing to spend up to £600. Thanks.

I tried the Hsu ventriloquist system in my bedroom system and found it wanting. I just gave those speakers away yesterday. I'm currently using the Paradigm Cinema Series in my bedroom. They are much better but still lack extension down to 80Hz.

I'm guessing that you are in the UK, so your options may be somewhat different than what we have available over here. In that case, the Cambridge Audio S30 may be a good choice for your budget. http://www.cambridgeaudio.com/specifications.php?PID=213&Title=Specifications

Quite affordable from Cambridge's authorized dealers. http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=CAMB-S30-BLK
