Sorry, yet another speaker wire question!

Hi all,

I visited my local speaker shop (London Drugs Canada) and the electronics specialist said that in comparing a standard 12 AWG wire, from your local hardware store, and a 16 AWG Monster XP wire, the Monster would have better conductance, and therefore, superior sound because of no oxygen and purer copper, despite it being thinner. Is this true? He did say that the copper in standard clear jacket cable will tend to oxidize over time, this we know. Who's to say it doesn't happen in other clear or non-clear jacketed wires?

What the heck is a "magnetic flux tube" advertised in the Monster cable? I'm assuming it's that smallish tube within the strands of copper. What does it do?

Regards,
Andrew

By the way, I installed standard 12 AWG clear jacketed stranded speaker wire on my 5.1 system from my local hardware store about a month ago. Is it worth replacing, especially for my rears?

Thanks again!

Regards,
Andrew

Absolutely not. The guy in the speaker shop obviously knows nothing other than what he learned in the Monster "how to sell our cables" literature.

I hope the guy in the speaker shop wiped the orifice that spewed that wisdom with Charmin, the squeezably soft tissue paper, to keep from scratching his delicate cheeks.

Apparently, it sucks money out of your wallet. Other than that, your guess is as good as mine.

When connected to a "flux capacitor" your speakers go back in time.

You'll hear Elvis live?

After you finally put in the correct wire, to really get the maximum listening pleasure, buy one of these.

That web site is... extensive. The whole thing is a joke, right? Like... the Onion does an A/V accessories website?

Not a joke. This chip has made some great reading at AA for a long while.
That Clark Johnsen may even have a higher degree in physics, the sad part of gullibility.
People have bought a lot of this nonsense. The Barnum effect at work, again.:D

Not this year. Spring is late:D The calendar lied.
If I apply a flux capacitor to the thermometer, will winter be over?

Ah Sh... LOL, you are killing me:D

But, that flux better be applied to my body, so it can also feel the heat:D

Clark Johnson has a degree? In physics yet? I've never seen him display any knowledge that was remotely related to science. I was actually starting to assume he was just a sock puppet of that Geoff Kait guy at Machina Dynamica.

Hey, whatever happened to green pens for your CDs? And did any of the people who ruined their CD collection by putting Armorall on them ever track down Sam Tellig and give him a good thrashing? :)

Whatever happened to absolute phase? How about reversing your power cords? (Don't try that one at home - it's not safe.) Shining a flashlight on your speakers?

Are goofy ideas only good when they're new? Do they wear out? Can a person only take so much CD demagnetizing before they have to go and use microwave tweeters with wooden horns?

So many questions and so little time. Oh my!

You really don't want a flux applied to your body. It has a whole 'nother meaning when referring to the body. :)
