I have a Yamaha RX-V659 av receiver and a Hometech HTSS box...I don't know what to call it..... but all the speaker wires go to it. I should be able to change rooms with that box to listen to the speakers in individual rooms and not in the family room where the system and TV are located. The Hometech box is very simple, it has 6 buttons and the speakers feed into it. It worked when the tech was out to set it up but for the life of me I can't get the receiver to transfer the family room speakers to other parts of the house. I've gone back and forth from speaker "A" to "B" and punched the buttons in and out on the Hometech box. There's either no sound or just sound from the speakers in the family room. No one has touched any wiring. Anyone have any ideas? Other than the speaker "A" and "B" buttons, I can't see on the receiver any other method of changing speakers...I am slowing losing my mind on a "restful" holiday weekend. Thanks....

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

I imagine that you can get the tech to help you out after the holiday weekend, but let's see if we can get you set up.

Perhaps the speaker distribution box is connected to the Zone 2 speaker outputs. Does that sound familiar? You could always trace the wiring between the selector box and the receiver to check where the speaker wires are connected - but that might not be easy if the receiver is tucked into an entertainment center.

Using Zone 2 is explained on page 106 of the owner's manual for the RX-V659. Please let us know if you want any help checking that out.

Thanks, Adam for your response. You were spot on with your zone reference, I found it the manual, found it on the receiver and ended up finding...nothing. Pathetic applies to me because I have a funny feeling I'm missing something obvious and when the tech comes back out (I told my wife that it would be a "simple fix".... then she started laughing when she saw me join your forum) it will probably be that zone control....I probably have the wrong buttons pushed at the wrong time. Thanks again for your helpful kindness and I will let you know what happens in a couple of days.....for your comedy relief, of course.....

I think you're being a little hard on yourself. Technology usually has simple problems it's finding them that's the hard part.
