Sorcerer's Apprentice!

Folks, got to look at this film last night. At first, the film was what I refer to as being a little "slow". However, once up and running that changed throughout. In fact, I am very happy I got to see it.

The film stars Nicolas Cage. He was originally one of Merlin's apprentices only to later become a Master himself. To be honest, I was not expecting very much. However, the humor contained in this film was very well done. That is, I found myself laughing a lot.

The audio was done very well done and the video effects were great. The acting is not going to win any awards per se, but it does account for some good old fashioned family fun. There is nothing like seeing a good wholesome movie out with the family imho. For the people liking to do just that, this film should be on your list to see.

In closing, I would have to give this film a solid B. If you find yourself having a bad day, then go see this film as you will leave with a smile. I know I sure did. That should tell you something. Here is a link for those interested:

I always like Nicolas Cage films even Ghost Rider was good once he got involved. This is out of his element IMO, but hey I look forward to seeing it once it's out on disc.

Nick Cage movies are a mixed bunch. Some are excellent others not so much. Unfortunately, this one looks like it would be leaning much more toward the not so much side for me. I can't say I've seen him in anything that good since Adaptation.

He's one of my favorite actors, but his movies aren't for everyone for sure. I love action movies and his are usually a lot of fun IMO. Bangkok Dangerous is one of the best I've seen lately, but I won't pretend that it's for everyone in the least. Just watched Lord of War today. It was a lot of fun.

I went and saw this on Friday and I have to say it was beyond dull. I think they got 2 or 3 laughs out of me - and I was halfway intoxicated too.

The only good thing in it was Cage. To me it seemed like he was the only one actually performing at a professional level. Everyone else seemed just bad especially the whiny main character.

I don't really know how to describe it other than staring at a wall for a hour. Ghost Rider was better than this.

Thanks folks for posting your opinions. Nothing wrong with that in my book. As I eluded to earlier, I was not expecting too much from this film. However, it did have some good laughter in it throughout. Found myself laughing a lot. The acting is certainly not going to win any awards. Just good old wholesome family fun imho. If that is true, then the film by far exceeded its goal per se.

Cheers,

Phil

I can't stand Nicolas Cage, he annoys the crap out of me, so I think I am going to go ahead a put this one as a pass.

Hey, I can understand why Cage is not for everyone. Personally, I think he is a great actor but often chooses bad roles. However, the Sorcerer's Apprentice is merely a family/kid film that offers good clean fun. I really don't believe Cage was trying to win an Oscar here. As such, I can relate to why some people don't care for him. Thanks for posting.

Phil

Saw it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I pretty much concur with Phil's assessments. I had to laugh at the adaptation from Fantasia's The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

My wife and I enjoyed this movie much more than we expected to.
I'd buy this when I can get it at a good price.

You got a problem with Canadians? ... (inside joke)

I first became aware of that banana head in that movie Fanboys that I watched on a j_garcia recommendation. The characters are very similar in both movies and so is their appeal to fine as frog's hair chicks.

Good movie. Worth a rent. I had recently watched the Fantasia cartoon version of The Sorcerer's Apprentice and was interested in seeing what these guys would do with that piece. They done good. No boobs though. :( :D
