I have the Sony projector listed above. It is currently mounted at 10'6" from the screen to the front of the lens. I currently have 101" screen image which is very good. I was wanting to move the location of the projector approx. 2' forward so people aren't hitting their head on it.

Is it possible to maintain the same 101" screen size by moving it forward to 8'6" away from the screen? Different lens perhaps?
If I wanted to maintain this screen size, would there be a different projector that would work better for my situation?

Thanks in advanced.

I have spoke with Sony and they said there is nothing they have that will work.
Does anyone know where I could find a new lens that would make this possible or even a new projector with similar specs?
I want to maintain 100" screen size with projector mounted at 102" to the front of the lens. I would like to keep cost of projector around the $3,000.00 price range.

Did you tried using projector central search tool?
Enter your screen size and throw distance. Usual suspects to recommend at this price point are Jvc and Epson

Not one of those compares to the Sony you have.

Why not move it back some?

I would look towards alternative solutions which gets the projector out of the way. I've done a number of installations and projector placement has really never come up as an issue.

If there is a serious issue with placement, then perhaps you can put it on a lift that raises it up, out of the way, when it is not in use.

I'm not sure what your installation situation is, but certainly you don't want to impact your image quality from that excellent projector by using a 'wide angle' add on lens. There are companies which make wide angle lenses which can go in front of your existing lens, but the ones with any quality are very pricey (over $1,000) and all of them will impact image quality.

I would look for a better solution to this issue than shortening the throw distance.
