Hi,

I just bought the 50" Sony SXRD and love it. I was using the Digital Video Essentials disc to " Fine Tune" my new tv. I found that using the DVE disc my tv was already basically setup correctly and only the smallest tweaks were made. My question is what about all of those other picture options on the tv setup menu that are not covered by DVE? Like, Iris and Adv. Iris? DNC? Noise reduction and detail enhacement? Should I have these settings turned on or off? What do some of you out there have your Sony setup like? My main sources for the tv come from a upconvert dvd and a Dish HD tuner. My room has moderate lighting during the day and can be adjusted at night.

Audioholics has a very small tv section... at least from my experiences. Instead of taking the easy way out and simply asking other people to do the work, you could have spent a minute on google and found pages and pages of support for the SXRD. Or else, just play around with the sxrd, toggling settings, until you achieve the picture you think is the best. OR just get an isf calibrator to come and make the picture its ABSOLUTE best.

Most of those 'other' settings just modify the picture from what it is supposed to look like. The majority of people will disable or turn them off.

I would also recommend doing searches here, AVS and Home Theater Forum to get info on these settings, as well as your basics settings, so you can make informed desicions on what or what not to do when calibrating your set. Newer sets don't always react the same as calibration DVDs say due to improvements in the sets themselves.
