Sony STR-DN2010 Panel Display Flashing

I have an old Sony STR-DN2010 that works fairly well and suits my needs in a small family room. Recently, the front panel display light has been flashing on and off constantly. It happens when on or in standby. It is not flashing "PROTECT" or "PROTECTED" and the unit seems to be working just fine. I disconnected power to the unit for about an hour and the problem was still there when I plugged it back in. I reset (cleared) the unit and then updated to the latest firmware but the problem remains. Since the unit works fine, my only real concern with the flashing light on the display is that it may be trying to tell me something. I have scoured the net and read the manual several times but I can't find an answer. Anyway, I'm hoping someone here might be able to shed some (flashing) light on this.

Try setting the display brightness to what you want. Right now it may be in the set mode which would cause it to flash until you decide on a brightness setting. Of course, almost anything that can be set could also cause the flashing. You might want to therefore reset all settings.
