Hey all, my cousin is going to give me a Sony STR-DG500 (http://www.amazon.com/Sony-STR-DG500-Channel-Theater-Receiver/dp/B000ETYO7C) and I also own a pair of Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 Speakers (http://klipsch.com/products/details/promedia-4-1.aspx) I want to hook these all up to my Xbox360. Now I own something that will convert these 2 computer sized plugs of the Klipsch Speakers into a red and white coaxial cables... now I was wondering if I could plug those red and white coaxial cables into the back of that reciever so I can get te speakers to work with it? Thanks alot!

While you are not completly out of luck with this setup, you are going to have to "rig" this to work. I do not recommend this solution but it should work. The only way I can see to get this setup to run would be to purchase 2 line level converters (commonly used in car audio, available at circuitcity, bestbuy, etc). Plug them into the front channel and rear channel outputs of your Sony receiver. Make sure you turn off the subwoofer and center channel in the setup menus. You will then need to get a pair of stereo rca male to stereo 1/8 minijack female adapters and plug them into the line level converters. Plug your Klipsch speakers into these adapters and you should have sucess.

I DO NOT recommend this solution. You are probably better off buying speakers designed for this application as opposed trying to rig computer speakers to work. This should get the job done but I wouldn't do it.

Anyone think my diagram will work?
The adapter that you found at radioshack isn't usefull for your application.

What you need, including the line level converter-

Two 1/8" female to female couplers.
Two 1/8" male to stereo RCA converters.

Connect the line level converter to the outputs of Front (L/R) and Surround (L/R) and be sure you know which goes to which on the the converter in conjunction to the receiver. Once you do that connect the 1/8" male to stereo RCA converters via RCA to their respective RCA line level outputs on the Line Level converter. After that connect the 1/8" female to female couplers to the 1/8" end of the 1/8" male to stereo RCA converters (headphone jack). Then connect the inputs of the Klipsch Promedia 4.1 system to the 1/8" female to female couplers.

It may not sound right the first time you do this because you may have some trial and error in connecting them the way that was intended. The way to check is to use the test channels function of the receiver, it will output "pink noise" to each speaker and it will indicate which speaker should be working. If it is incorrect just try another configuration on the same grounds as above stated.

Good luck, and if you want it to sound even better you will need to buy some real speakers.

In responce to your PM-

There is nothing wrong with your diagram as far as I can see, only the part that you had a link too, it is not necessary for what you are trying to accomplish. I tried to post the links but my computer has serious issues and I can't stay on Radioshack's site long enough to get the links without my browser crashing. My computer is old, and has problems.
