ok i was originally looking at the Sony STR-DG1000 but everyone shifted me towards the denon 2807... as far as i know both units will do the same thing, the main thing i'm concerned about is the ability to decode the audio via HDMI, if the sony will do that, then i'm gonna go with the sony due to the fact that is cheaper and i'm a sony fan boy wicked bad... however, i'm also hearing that the STR-dg1000 doesn't support DTS HD or Dolby True HD... also i'm hearing that the upconversion is garbage... any help on this would be awesome.
thx for the help

soon to be in HD land..

Sony doesn't have a good reputation for their receivers, not to say the DG1000 is bad because I have no experiance with it. To date no receiver decodes Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD. There may be some towards the last half of this year that will decode these formats. If the Denon does audio over HDMI I would get it over the Sony in a heartbeat. Personally I would get a Yamaha over the others or possibly Onkyo. Onkyo provides the best value in my opinion. The Onkyo TX-SR604 features HDMI switching with audio, does 7.1, and has an excellent user interface. The 604 can be had for around $400.
