Sony STR-DA5ES deal?

I've just been looking at a Sony STR-DA5ES floor demo for a bit over $500, with full warranty. After reading Gene's articles here I've rethought my preference for a separate pre/pro and am thinking of a decent receiver to use with outboard DIY amps (Gene really liked this one in the "Picks" article) and FINALLY make the leap into the modern era.

So: is this a "dude, jump on it!" deal? Or are there other fish in the sea?

Pretty solid receiver for $500 and its 6.1, not sure exactly what but if you haven't already decided I would say go for it.
