So i bought a pair of these speakers for my sound system since i've always wanted a pair of floorstanding speakers and finally found something affordable, i knew sony was a pretty good company from what i've owned from them before, mostly shelf systems and what not, so since i was on a budget i order these and give them a try. I'm not a "noob" to good audio considering a friend of mine gave me his entire system when he had to move which consisted of 5 $500 a piece KEF sattelites and a MASSIVE 12" sub from KEF as well. it was probably the best thing i've ever heard, unfortunatley the subwoofer went out due to my brother attempting to hook it up to something incorrectly to something and well, sattelites are no good without a subwoofer, so i bought a cheap set of bookshelf speakers to hold me over whilst i saved up for something nicer. I bought these hoping they would sound at least decent but when i first set them up and started playing a track on them i was extremly impressed, they sounded 10 times better then my satellite and sub system and had 3 times the bass and an incredible range in treble and the mid-range was perfect and not drowned out by the bass like i frequently have issues with when using satellite-sub systems. These are truly excellent speakers for those shopping on a budget and they defenitly over exceeded my expectations by 20 times.

I have the entire SS Set, they are awesome when hooked up to a decent receiver. They are fairly well-built for the price. I've already torn them apart and had a look-see. I have the SS-F5000's as well as the center, and rear bookshelf speakers. I'm waiting to get the SS-F-6000's to go behind my couch.

When I get the 6000's, I want to move the bookshelf's off the couch and onto the wall. I also got an Aura Pro mounted to the bottom of the couch, and then my subwoofer under the coffee table (ignore the ammo;)) When the whole SS set is all together it sounds pretty good. I have it running off a Denon in the background above the fridge with the Mr. Bill magnet and an HTPC on top of it.

I like that all the components in this particular Sony setup are cheap at <$200 per pair of speakers. Not bad. Best cheap speakers I've ever owned, so I will vouch and say the 5000's are nice, for the money. They've got awesome bass response in corners, when tilted slightly away from the left/right wall. The 6000's and 7000's also seem promising, and if I had a bigger room, I'd get both, but for now, the 6000's are on my list.

(I Really need a better digital camera)

in my experience they deffenitly need a decent amount of push behind them, no less then 100 watts i have a 50w amp and a 100w one (per channel) and they dont run to good on the 50, IMO from my experiences, the more wattage the better things sound, especially bass response. not too much difference in volume either, i laugh at idiots who think more watts = more volume i mean, i guess it does to a point but you wont notice a difference unless your increasing wattage by like 3 fold
