Sony & Samsung LCD's

I am looking at the Sony 40" XBR and have been told that it shares the same display as the Samsung 4092. I also have been told Sony makes the best Color chip. Being new to all this, Samsung shows much better numbers and the sales folks say it is a better set. Can I get some feedback? I also looked at the Sharp 45" Aquos. I want a good clean picture accross the board. Cable, HD, DVD.

Have you seen them in person? Which one looked best to you? That's really the only way to buy a TV. Spend time with each set, properly calibrated. Personally I like Samsung and Sharp LCD's. They tend to have nicer colors and better scaling of low resolution sources.

Samsung makes the panels for Sony, but the electronics are totally individual. Since Samsung makes the panels, I don't see how Sony would know more about making them look good than Samsung.... My dad has a Samsung LCD and it looks great with HD cable broadcasts and DVDs.
