I have a Sony 60" rear projection LCD (KDF-60XS955). I also have a Toshiba pro scan DVD player (nothing fancy. bought it at Costco about 3-years ago) connected via component cable. From day 1, when watching a DVD I would occasionally notice the screen go blank for literally a split-second: if it happened when you blinked you would miss it. It only happens at most a half-dozen times during a movie and averages about 2-3 times. It's nothing too serious, but annoying none-the-less. I turned off progressive scan and it still happened so I don't think pro scan is the problem.
Since it didn't happen all that often I figured that it was something with my cheapo DVD player's component outs (used s-video with other TV). I just recently upgraded my X-Box with the High Def AV Pack. Now every once in a while when playing Project Gotham Racing 2, I see the same blinking!!!! Never saw it with the normal AV cables. It was only after upgrading to the HD pack.
I contacted Sony support and got some standard crappy response with the suggestion that a tech come out. I haven't called for service yet because it happens so infrequently I can't reproduce it easily. So unless the tech want to cozy up on the couch to watch a movie with me, it may be pointless.
So, could my Sony have a "bug" with the component inputs? No other input type has shown this problem. Has anyone else with a Sony Grand Wega RP LCD seen this? BTW, all video is going straight to the TV and not through my HT receiver.
