Im getting a very low sound from the right speaker on this. Ive used differant speakers, wires, even put the balence all the way to the right and it still louder on the left. Sittin in the cneter of the room it sounds like all the sound is comin from the left you can faintly hear it from the right..could this be something simple i can take the back off and and maybe resolder a loose wire,i havent attempted to do this yet,,any help would be great, thanks

Pardon if this sounds silly, but have you checked the balance? Make sure it's set in the middle. That could be the culprit.

Unless I'm mistaken, that model has a speaker distance setting. Did you check to see if the setting for the right speaker is skewed to the low side?
Does this happen with only one type of input? Both tuner and CD/DVD?

Sorry, I checked your manual and the distance setting is only set up to work the speakers as a pair not individually. I had a STR-DE885 which probably was the same way, but it's been a while.
I assume you've checked your wires and connections for frayed wires and such?
If so have you tried switching around the R/L speaker connections to see if this causes the right to be more prominent?
More info would be helpful. Are you running the full 6.1 or simply 2 channel.
Not to be condescending in any way, but do you by chance have the front right speaker mistakenly connected to one of the surround or center outputs?

checked all that to make sure.dont matter what im running thru afd,2 channel,surround,5.1 any and all the left is louder, even with the balence all the way to the right it still louder on the left,,could a wire inside be loose or somehting. just tryin to see if anyone might know before i unhook everything.and yes ive switched the speakers, used different speakers and diff wires, even switched the wires back and forth

If the left side speaker is louder than the right whether you match right speaker/right output and left speaker/left output or the two reversed then the problem is either with the right speaker or the wire connecting it to the reciever.
Put the soldering iron down and walk away.:) Try first to change out the speaker wire. If that doesn't work, there is something wrong with the speaker itself.

ive tried the speaker on the left its fine,,its only on the right side..every other speaker i use is the same,,even used the speakers on diff recievers and the same,,diff wire the same

Well, I'm sorry to say it, but it's starting to sound as if there may be something wrong internally on your receiver. You've already done everything I can think of. I just replaced my STR-DE875 over Thanksgiving. Nothing wrong, just upgraded. If it turns out it's internal(& you can't fix it yourself), it would prolly be cheaper to buy a new. Sorry I can't think of anything else that might help you out.

I have an old SonySTR-DE635 and I have the same problem with one of the rear channels.
I've been searching this site every day now for a few weeks and I've decided on an Onkyo 702. I had an Onkyo years ago and it worked great for years before it got stolen from a friend who borrowed it for a party he had.
