 My name is Dustyn! I have been a lurker for a while and found a lot of great information. I am in the process of building a new HT in my living room and pool area. I would like some input on the components I have chosen and any other possible recommended options. The following is what I plan to buy!

Sony STR-DA1000ES 7-Channel 120 Watt HT Receiver
Note “I can’t find this on Sony’s web site??”

Sony ES DVP-NC555ES 5-Disc DVD/CD/SACD

4 Klipsch In Ceiling 8” 5800C

2 Klipsch In Wall 8” 5800W

1 Center Channel ????? Need Help

1 Klipsch Powered Subwoofer RSW 15

2 Klipsch Outdoor AW650

2 Klipsch Outdoor AW800 Subs

What do you think?

Are the Klipsch Outdoor Subs necessary? Will this unit have enough power to runn all of this?

Do I need anything else?

Thanks for your help, sorry so many questions.

What's your budget for the receiver? I'd seriously look into some other brands such as Harman Kardon, Marantz, Denon, Onkyo, etc...

Would that receiver handle those speakers? Yes, most likely, but Sony just doesn't make the greatest receivers out there.

Thanks for the quick response.

My budget for the receiver is $700-$1,000

Any Idea's?

WOW....you can do very well in that range. You could pick up an older model from Denon or Yamaha that will walk all over that Sony. I'm talking about an RX-V2500 or a Denon 3805. Or maybe a newer Yamaha RX-V1600 (offers HDMI capabilities).

I've heard the DVP-NC555ES player is a pretty good unit. Tweeter has it for $299.99. I haven't seen it that cheap from an unauthorized dealer.

Sony ES receivers are as good as Denon and Yamaha, but I agree their prices are generally not competitive. I think the 1000ES is at least 2 years old, may be that's why you cannot find it on the Sony site. Klipsch speakers are quite efficient but the 1000ES may still have hard time driving that many speakers.
