Hi,

New to this group. I have a Sony Receiver DA333ES. When I switch it on, after about 20 secs, I get the "Protector Fan" Message on the display. I have no clue what this means and what I need to do. I did search the internet but could not find anything on it. Can someone help me? I bought this receiver about 6 years ago was working fine until now. How do I fix it?

Thanks for your help.

Can someone please help here with Protector Fan problem?

So many expert people have read it but no replies. Can I assume this is a problem that can not be solved. If it is then I may end up buying a new receiver. Any recomendations?

Thanks

Well, the first thing you can do is disconnect everything from the receiver (while it's off of course) and then power it on and see what it does. If the error has gone away, that means that you must've had a short somewhere, most likely between the speaker terminals.

Another user had a similar problem with his Sony receiver. He found that after he opened it up, there were a few blown fuses. You should check for that as well.
