Hey guys: it's been a while since my last post. I was looking for a replacement for my Triport headphones so I searched a little bit on the web and on this site ( I had asked for some advice on headphones before when I bought a couple of Denon, I can't recall the model now). First let me make clear that the main reason for getting new headphones was because the material on the ear pads was falling apart and the headband where the drivers are attached had come apart too. I had nothing bad to say about the Triport sound wise, I liked them and they have served me well. After some research I found that the MDR 7506 had gotten some very good reviews (I was a little bit undecided between the Sony and the Senheisser HD280, but the reviews on the latter were not as good as the Sony's), so I bought the Sony and I did some comparison today ( I use my receiver Yamaha HTR5890, and Onkyo DX-C390 Cd player, and the following CDs, Marcin Wasilewski's TRIO, Pat Metheny Group's Life (Still Talking) and Rage against the Machine's Rage against the Machine. The first thing I noticed is that the Sony sounds louder, and the bass is heavier, the clarity is more detailed. Whereas the Triport surround my ears, the Sony's sits more like over of them, and tighter. Sony wins hands down on the quality of the material, but as I have always said I'm more worried about the sound than what they are made of, but on the case of the Triport this was way too noticeable to let it go. I can certainly say now that the Sony are a better choice, more like an upgrade (with the Denon's I couldn't tell the difference), so thanks a lot guy for the information I found on this excellent website, and please don't start on the jokes about Bose, Blows, Blose or whatever you want to call it, it's getting old and that was not the intention of this thread.
