I'm hoping to speak to someone who has this TV and is running a blu-ray player off it. I can't seem to get any image from the blu-ray player. I have it connected with an HDMI-DVI cable. What do I need to do to get this thing to work?

I have a Panasonic DMP-BD60 connected to a Onkyo TX-SR606 and then to the
Sony KF-42WE620.

Hi. Have you tried connecting the blu-ray player directly to the TV? That could help eliminate any possible issues that you are having with the receiver.

Regarding the receiver, have you assigned the HDMI input that you used on the back (to connect to the blu-ray player) to the input source that you selected (to play/listen to the blu-ray player)?

I havn't tried the direct connection.

I have done the correct assignments on the receiver. I can see the receiver setup menu on the TV, just not the blu-ray setup menu.

It works when connected directly to the TV but not through the receiver. I would still prefer to go through the receiver if anyone knows if that is possible.

The TV only has one DVI and I also have a computer to connect. The receiver can handle the computer signal, just not the blu-ray. I need the receiver working else I have to manually change cables when I want to use the blu-ray. Please help! Perhaps I should try the blu-ray menu and set it to output 1080i?

Okay, I have tried all possible menu options for both the blu-ray and receiver. I forced both 720p and 1080i outputs on both and that did not work. Any help would be much appreciated. I don't want to have to change several cables each time I watch a blu-ray! I'm going to now try updating firmware and maybe that will do something.

I wish that I had the answer for you. I'll give this some more thought and let you know if I think of anything.

Have you set the HDMI resolution on the blu-ray player to "Auto" (or something like that)? That will automatically pick the output resolution.

Have you tried connecting the blu-ray player to a different HDMI input on the receiver? Perhaps the one that you are using is at fault. Wouldn't be the first time.

It was at auto by default for both the blu-ray and the receiver and did not work. I tried other settings as well. I tried different HDMI inputs and cables and that did not work either.

What was happening was that the receiver was changing the settings of the blu-ray player. When the blu-ray player was connected to the TV I was able to access the menu and force an output of 1080i. Once connected to the receiver the blu-ray was changing back to Auto for its output mode. Auto for the receiver must have been 1080p. Needless to say I was never getting an image when the blu-ray was connected to the receiver. What I had to do was write down the remote control button sequence to access the setup menu and change the output resolution to 1080i. That fixed the problem. The receiver seems to have learned the correct output because when I plugged the blu-ray into different inputs the receiver remembers the new setting. If my TV was not 1080i and rather 1080p I doubt this would have been a problem.
