Sony kds 60A2000,cant adjust DRC

I heard I could improve my standard defonition picture if I turned the DRC off.Problem is DRC is only avalable at 480I,my sat. reciever & oppo dvd only put out 480P so I cant access my DRC. Any suggestions much appreceated,

made a 480I signal by using analog hookup from sat. receiver to display. Turned off the DRC & the picture was worse. Stayed up all night trying every combination of picture settings in custom mode. Also tried letting the TV upscale 480i from the analog hookup & some other posted settings. In the end I went with my settings with the sat. set at 1080i throuht DVI to HDMI. picture is better but I'm still looking for more from standard def. The DVDO iscan VP30 looks good but price is an issue.
