All these stupid anti-piracy gimmicks are really messing up the way people view the entertainment industry. I think it is personally resonable for a person to buy a CD, be able to play it on any audio system they want and also make as many copies of the frickin' thing as you want also. I have multiple of copies of all my CD's mainly because I keep a set at my house, a set in my car, and usually a set in a travel CD case if I am going to be studying somewhere for a long time or what not.

Also, it has been proven that when people download music and they like what they hear; they will go out and buy the CD. Personally, I think that if you buy a CD without ever listening to it and you end up not liking it at all then you should be able to get a refund (as long as the CD is in perfect condition upon return). I have not trusted Sony for years because they appeal to the main stream (which is briliiant marketing and that is why they are such a powerhouse). I prefer to look at companies that dare to do something different and also make quality products that you do not have to worry about.

Yep, they really stuck their foot in it this time. Most of the antivirus software publishers (now including Miscrosoft) are considering the rootkit from Sony spyware and are adding it to their anti-virus and anti-spyware definitions. Ouch. One of the publishers is quibbling on semantics & has coined a new term for it: "ineptware" LOL

Not that I play CDs on my computer or rip to MP3 much anyway, but I'm now inclined to NOT purchase anything on the Sony label.

In case you didn't notice, they have stopped production on all of the CDs with the anti piracy software (and I believe they are even initiating a recall) two patches were released to disable the software and Microsoft expects to release a safe removal tool for the software before the end of the year. A class action suit was filed against them last week as well... Yes, welcome to last week  (haven't seen that one in a while :D )

This is not a new thing for Sony. Sony also sells PC's, and any PC they sell has 2 licensing agreements, a standard one from Microsoft, and a second from Sony that says you agree that they can put any software they want to on your computer, whenever they want.

That's why I don't by Sony.
