Sony HT-DDW750 Problem

Hi! I recently purchased a used Sony HT-DDW750 receiver, but I have a problem. Looks like the screen on the receiver is defective, and shows no text when I turn it on. The question is can I set it up so that the options show up in the tv monitor? Right now it doesn't show anything in the tv monitor or the display screen on the receiver ...

Thank you!

Mike

Since it is new, its under warranty. Get it replaced before you do anything else.

It's not new, it's used so it doesn't have any warranty. What I want to know is does it display the menu only on the display screen or also on the tv monitor? Cuz if it's supposed to show up in the tv monitor, the whole system is broken, and not only the display screen ...

On the remote there should be an "On Screen" button that can be pressed "To display the menus of the receiver on the TV screen." I got this from the user manual on Sony's site.

Click the manual link here to check it out yourself: http://www.sony.com.au/support/product/product.jsp?selectedProd=HTDDW750

Thank you very much for your time! Unfortunately the remote didn't come with the receiver ... is it possible to buy a universal remote that would fit on this receiver??

You would have to get a universal remote like a harmony that has its codes stored on an online database, but before you do this make sure your receiver is on the database and it has the specific function you want.

edit: Just realized - If you are lucky you might be able to find discrete codes for your receiver if you can do this any programmable remote should work. I would look at remotecentral.com for your needs. They will be able to help you quiet a bit with your remote problem.

If you can return this thing somehow, I would do it. If it has any kind of On-Screen display, it will likely be for the integrated DVD player only. You could order a remote for the receiver/dvd player from Sony. There is a possibility that Logitech won't have complete remote control ability on this unit. Where did you buy the receiver, did it come with the speakers or any other accessories?

I think I'll simply buy the remote, so I'll be able to set it up the right way on the tv screen. Just a simple question: If the receiver is not set up and I simply plug-in the speakers and the dvd player to it, without setting it up, should I get at least the image?

It should display an image from the DVD player, you should get rid of that thing if you still can.;)
