Sony GX300 Question

I've owned my Sony RDR-GX300 DVD Recorder/Player for a few months. I like everything it does, but...the damned thing takes a long time to load a pre-recorded DVD. I mean about 2 - 3 minutes from the time I drop a DVD onto the tray until it's ready to play. In fact, sinply pressing the 'tray open' command takes about 30 seconds before the tray opens.

My question...is the behavior I'm observing normal for this device?

I have the GX300 and it is normal for it to be slow to load and eject. For me it's about a minute to load and 30 seconds to eject.
